  • First-Time Guests

Know that you will be welcomed!

Worship is at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Central Sundays at 1030 College Drive in Madisonville. We have Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:45 a.m.

The 11 a.m. worship also is accessible via Facebook and YouTube

Our worship blends contemporary and traditional elements. Our choir leads us in singing at the 11 a.m. worship, and you can count on hearing piano and organ. But it's also not uncommon for guitar, drums, harp, handbells and wind intruments to join the joyful noise.

Each Sunday we celebrate communion (also known as the Lord's Supper), and everyone is welcome to share in the allergen-free bread and juice.

Nursery is available for infants up to three years of age for all of our Sunday-morning events. We also love to have babies and children in worship in the sanctuary. During the 11 a.m. worship, we offer a Children's Worship geared just for young kids, "Worship & Wonder," a Montessori-informed style of learning that encourages kids to engage with stories from the Bible.

We have an elevator to help make our building more accessible for all. Specially marked parking for people with disabilities is available.

We strive to be a church with no boundaries to anyone experiecing God's boundless love and welcome.

  • Music Ministries

We have music for all ages!

Music is an intergral part of our worship and life as church together. We have adult choir, adult handbell choir, orchestra, youth ensembles and three children's choirs.

To learn more and engage, please contact Dr. Bill Thomas, our minister of music & arts.

  • Outreach and Service

We are all called to use our gifts to serve and to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world today. First Christian dedicates a significant portion of our ministry budget to helping ministries in our own community and around the world, and we pursue mission and service opportunities both near and far.

For example, we have a large community garden on the front of our property. (Check it out next time you come by 1030 College Drive in Madisonville; you can see it from the street!) All the food grown in the garden is donated to the Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County. Here are some of the other places that First Christian pitches in with energy, money or both to God’s work in the world:

    • Habitat for Humanity Pennyrile Region, which brings people together to build homes, communities and hope
    • Week of Compassion, which fuels disaster relief and preparedness, refugee and immigrant care and sustainable development globally
    • Backpack Blessings, which works to keep local elementary students from going hungry on the weekends and remove barriers to their academic success
    • Camp Kum-Ba-Ya, which hosts church camps, retreats and other gatherings on 45 wooded acres on Kentucky Lake

You are invited to join any of our ministries that serve to strengthen all God's children. Call the church office at (270) 821-5335 to learn more.

  • Children & Youth Ministries

Children & Youth are not just the church of the future; they are an active, present part of our community of faith today!

We have Sunday School classes for preschool and up. On Wednesdays, we have Logos for kids 4 years through 12th grade. Things start at 5 p.m. Central with dinner. Then the children head to their choirs, followed by some "Pray and Play" time. After dinner the youth head to youth group.  All year long we offer special events & trips that help our young people to grow in faith.

Sunday mornings at 11 Central we offer a Montessori-based service, "Worship & Wonder," for children 4 years through second grade.

Nursery is available for infants up to three years of age for all of our Sunday-morning events. We also love to have babies and children in worship in the sanctuary.

  • Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders

In December 2021, historic tornadoes devestated multiple communities in western Kentucky, including in our own Hopkins County.  We partner with Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders to support their work in helping to rebuild homes. Since February 2022, we have welcomed visiting disaster volunteers to live at our property.

We are honored to be a part of the rebuilding efforts! If you are interested in bringing a volunteer group to stay at First Christian, please visit Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders.

  • Seniors' and Women's Ministries

First Christian has ministries for all!

Come be a part of our monthly XYZ Senior Ministry! XYZ gathers monthly for a fabulous meal and speaker. This fun and inspiring event is targeted for people 55 and older.  We also have great day trips and excursions throughout the year that are geared specifically for this age group.

We  also have three Christian Women's Fellowship groups that serve, study, and fellowship together each month.

  • FCC Preschool

We are proud to have been the first to begin a preschool in Madisonville.

Our preschool on the church property at 1030 College Drive offers early education and extended care for children two years through kindergarten. We have one childcare room for infants six months and older.

We believe that our preschool is a ministry to the entire community by providing a fabulous early education and safe childcare. To learn more and get on the enrollment list, please contact FCC Preschool. First Christian Church members are prioritized in enrollment.

  • Remembrance Garden

We are blessed with a beautiful campus at 1030 College Drive in Madisonville, and one of the most beautiful spots on it is a remembrance garden for church members who would like to have their ashes scattered in the garden. A granite monument commemorates names with birth and death dates.

We hope that this garden will be a peaceful place for people to go and remember their loved ones. If you would like to learn more about the remembrance garden as part of your end-of-life plans, please reach out to our office administrator, Donna Gipson, or call First Christian at (270) 821-5335.

  • Cancer Support Group

The first Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m. Central we have a support group geared for those who live  with cancer or who love someone who is living with cancer. It's a time of encouragement, support, and idea sharing. Everyone is welcome to join this open gathering at First Christian at 1030 College Drive in Madisonville.

  • Open Basketball

Thursdays at 7 p.m. Central is open basketball in our gym at 1030 College Drive in Madisonville. People of wide-ranging ages (about 15 to about 65), fitness and skill levels rotate through quick, usually full-court games of five on five. The action typically closes at about 8:30 with group prayer.

Maybe you will provide our first highlight-reel dunk. Come on out and join the fun, friendly time. No RSVP required.
